F.A.Q.

Why use wax?
Wax is mainly used for aesthetic purposes - to get the piece looking it's best.
Wax also works as a protective layer. As timber and furniture ages the finish ages with it. Layering wax up creates a richer finish and protects it from this somewhat. While you are waxing the furniture you are also connecting with the piece and can see any wear and tear that needs to be repaired, rather than leaving it until these become major problems.

Is Granville Smith Furniture Wax available online?
At the moment the wax is only available from the stores listed in the 'Stockists' section of the website, or from Jeremy's workshop. If you would like to stock the wax in your store or live in Sydney and would like to buy the wax from please email: granvillesmithrestorations@gmail.com

What is the cost of Granville Smith Furniture Wax?
The RRP is $25.
Please contact Jeremy on 0415 572 529 or on: granvillesmithrestorations@gmail.com for Wholesale or bulk purchase costs.

How often do I need to wax my furniture?
This depends on the furniture's use, placement and environment. The more the piece is used, the larger the variation in different temperatures in the environment, the more waxing is needed. You can tell that the furniture needs waxing through it's appearance.

How do I know that the piece needs to be waxed?
The piece becomes duller. It looks dirty and unfinished, much like a car does when it needs to be washed.

Does the wax colour change the colour of the furniture?
No the wax does not change the colour of the furniture. The reason for the different colouring in the waxes is to disguise any accumulation of wax in cracks in the furniture. The waxes are used to enhance the natural colour of the furniture, not stain it.

The wax in my container has a split in it. Is that normal?
As Granville Smith furniture wax is made by hand with no machinery or synthetic materials each batch has variations. Some containers may have wax that has splits in it due to the temperature of the day when the wax cured.
